divest gw

Our Divestment Campaign officially Launched on December 29th, 2019.

we won divestment june 29, 2020.

Sunrise GW took a stand against university administration who fuel millions of dollars from GWU’s endowment into the fossil fuel industry, undermining the future of its staff and students.

Today, we continue to demand transparency about the Regulatory Studies Center’s biased anti-regulation reports, and the funding the RSC receives from the Koch Network and ExxonMobil.

WHAT We DEMANDed:

1) Close or cut ties with the Regulatory Studies Center or publicly disclose its funding, motivations, and anti-regulation agenda; and

2) Immediately divest the university endowment from the fossil fuel industry.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

we won divestment, but there is still work to be done.

Let's increase pressure on our university to take accountability and work for a safer, more just future for its students and workers.
We deserve a livable future.

Universities like GW have the ability to shape industries in this nation. GW should be a leader in the effort to eliminate investments in unethical and detrimental industries that harm and/or will harm the lives of its own students and staff members.

My tuition money should not be used to fund the climate crisis.

If GW wants my support as an alum, they need to align their investment practices with our values as an educational institution. If we want to teach students how to make the world a better place and research groundbreaking solutions, we can’t legitimize those who spread disinformation, sabotage science, and undermine accountability in the name of the fossil fuel industry.
